Hi all! Thought I would come here and introduce myself :)
I found this website after searching Google for a bit more information on telephone harrassment from a company called Aqua (a sub-division of Halifax). Within a few minutes of joining I had already copied and pasted some template wording, which I have duly sent off!
I was very silly in my youth and racked up far more debt than I could every have hoped to maintain. I bit the bullet and went under the IVA program which I have since successfully left, and am attempting to rebuild my credit profile in the hopes of getting a mortgage.
I've successfully claimed against the NatWest for £280 worth of charges without even going anywhere near the courts - the LBA was enough to get me what I wanted. One thing I've learned is that the best way not to get charged is to simply stay within your limits- not that it's always easy to do that.
I've still done a few daft things (used a Payday Loan company, bounced a couple of DDs and missed a credit card payment) but my whole view on credit and debt has changed massively from around seven years ago.
I've always though that banks and finance institutions are a bit backwards - kind of like giving you an umbrella when it's sunny and taking it away when it rains - and that's something I've never understood!
Anyway, if anyone wants to ask me anything, I can't pretend to be a great expert about the IVA process and certainly not an expert in reclaiming charges - but I'm happy to answer any questions.
