Today I filed the Court Claim for £2,635 of charges (£3,126 with interest) against Barclays Bank. When I got back home something dawned on me. When I eventually get my charges back I won't be able to draw out the cash. It's not a big problem
but Let me explain...
About 3 years ago I went overdrawn (direct debits) without an overdraft for maybe around £200. This had happened occasionally but I always repaid it within 2 or 3 days, accepted the carges and they didn't bother, but on this occasion I got a letter telling me to tear up my Electron Card and Chq book and return them immediately otherwise they will close my account and go to court blah blah.
So I returned the card and chq book and haven't had one since. There is no way I can draw cash out, only pay it in. I haven't really bothered as I ended up just using this account for direct debits and for shunting money on to my barclaycard via the internet.
But I just realised that I'd better apply for a cash card now-ish so that I can at least draw some cash out when the time comes.
Has anyone ever heard of a situation like this where a bank has left a customer with no way of drawing cash for 3 years. I'd be interested to hear what any of you think about it and have the bank dishonoured anything within their contract for doing this?
